New group from trumpeter Olivier Laisney. After several years alongside Magic Malik, he returns with music combining jazz, hip-hop, contemporary music, traditional songs, and Palestinian poetry. The idea for this project emerged from the meeting between Osloob Abdelrahman, singer/rapper/poet, and Olivier Laisney, composer/trumpeter. The latter, alongside flutist Magic Malik, developed a written and improvised language based on Olivier Messiaen's limited transposition modes and tonal signatures, a harmonic system created by Malik. "I've always been attracted to mixing genres, regardless of the medium. For this new project, I wanted to bring together the colors of Messiaen's modes (synesthete and fervent Catholic) with traditional Arabic songs. From the very first rehearsals, the alchemy worked surprisingly well. The melodies sung by Osloob immediately found their place within the clusters of colorful notes derived from Messiaen's modes."
